Facilitation of Higher Education for Persons with special needs

Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya strictly adheres to basic directive of UGC for providing equal educational opportunities to differently abled persons.

Students' Association
The Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya students' Union (JKMSU) is the general body of the students of the College. The office beares are elected annually. The students who fail to attend 80% attendance and to attend the sessional examination and unable to secure good marks are debarred from contesting in the JKMSU election. Except JKMSU, no other students' Association/ Union is recognized by the College.

Computer laboratory
The College has well equipped computer laborator ywith 30 terminal and internet facilities
Parents/Guardins association
Parents and guardians of the Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya are organized under the Parents and Guardians Association. It is helping to maintain reciprocity between the sides and get mutual feedback which is beneficial to students and the institution as well.

Alumni Association
Amumni Association of Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya is a forum of its ex students. It was formed in 2003 and henceforth this association has not only provided an excellent liaison between the College and its former students but also contributing actively for development of the College.

Departmental Library
To  add  new  features  to  the  College,  each  and  every  Department  has  developed  their  respective


Departmental Libraries with a view to acquaint the students with new good books and journals which are normally not available in the College Library. The required fund for this purpose is raised from the fund provided by the authority and the donations of the teachers and students of the respective departments.

Departmental Seminar
Each Department of the College hoist departmental Seminar for the benefit of the student as per schedule prescribed by the Department concerned. The objective of the Seminar is students involvement in the academic persuits and subject matter of the seminar relates with their course.

Sports facilities
The College has both indoor and outdoor activities for the benefit of the students. Mr. Joyonta Tamuli has been appointed as Physical Instructor to look after both indoor and outdoor games and sports. Besides faculty members are also appointed by the authority as the Adviser of indoor and outdoor games and sports for the benefit of the students. From last year a well equiped gymnasium with respective aids have been provided by the College for use and practice of the gym.

Digital Classroom
The College has a few well furnished, well equipped Digital Classroom. The digital classroom also has scope for conducting webinar.

Digital Conference Hall
The College has a well furnished digital conference hall with a sitting capacity of 150 persons. Important Meetings and Session of Seminars have been conducted in the hall from time to time.

24 for hours electricity facility
The College has 24 hours electricity backup facility which provides students proper reading environment both during the College hours and also in the hostels.

The Forums and Associations
1.Sahitya Sora: The Assamese Department forum: Publishes one annual magazine 'Prerona'.
2.English Study and Literary Forum: Department of English publishes its annual departmental magazine 'Vision'.

3.Economics Study Centre: publishes an annual magazine named 'Economica'.
4.Political Science Asociation publishes its magazine annually 'Bishleshon'.
5.Educational Study Circle of education department publishes an annual magazine named 'Sikhanubhav'.
6.Sociological Research Centre of Sociology department publishes 'Sociological Image'.
7.History Study Circle publishes a wall magazine named 'Jugantar' & annual magazine named 'Sandhan'.
8.Philosophical Forum, of department of philosophy publishes a students' magazine named 'Pragya'.
9.Science Forum, a collective study centre of the Science Stream publishes a wall magazine 'Konika'.

Botanical Garden
A green and clean environment is a basic feature of the College: In order to add to its physical beautification the College is nurshing a few flower gardens and botanical garden accomodating a few valuable plants.

Canteen & Parking Facility
The Colege has a well maintained canteen, which is kept open to serve the students. There is also facility for parking four wheelers and two wheelers in the campus.

Invited Talk
The College organises Late Founder Principal Karendra Narayan Boruah Memorial Lecturer annualy by inviting eminent personalities.

National Seminar
At least one national level/ state level seminar in each session is arranged to provide a forum for eminent personalities to exchange their views with students & Teachers and also to create an academic atmosphere in and around the institution.

Every department arranges excursion or educational tours to places of academic importance during vacations for gathering practical knowledge and experience.

Extension programme

The   College   has   been   conducting   different

extension programmes with the financial assistance of UGC sponsored at different places of neighbouring areas.

Health care centre
The College also has a Health Care Centre in the College campus which provides necessary first aid treatment to the students during College hours.

Literary Facilities
Journal, Magazine, News paper
The College has become a platform for Acdemic as well as Literary Excellance for both students and teachers. The College has a Research Journal entitled 'Candescent' which intends to address both applied and theoritical issues. The scope of the journal encompasses research articles, original research reports, reviews, short communications, scientific commentaries in the field of social sciences.
An interdisciplinary research journal on women cell named 'Janani' has been published regularly. This research journal addresses different empirical research article on women and allied subjects. It is an important platform to discuss about the plight of gender in Indian Society with special reference to Assam and North East India.
However the college is also becomes a platform for literary exposure to the students and to the teachers as it has published an annual Magazine named 'Jyotirmoy' and an occassional newpaper 'JKM News Letter'. The Students expresses their opinions, feelings and emotions towards society, mankind and the world by writings such as poems, short stories, articles and review etc. The newspaper 'JKM News Letter' highlights the events and activities of the College as well as provides scope for literary write-ups for students and teacher Community. All the departments of the College have their own magazines which covers different aspects of knowledge of the students
