Course Counselling: A Programme of course counseling is held in the college after admission and its date is notified either in the notice board/website of the College or published in the local newspaper.

Coaching Classes for Entry into Service:
In order to prepare students to get employment in Groups 'A', 'B' or 'C' Central Services, States Services or Equivalent Positions in the Private Sector, Jorhat Kendriya Mahavidyalaya provides special coaching and teaching of students to prepare them to sit for these highly competitive examinations as per the UGC guidelines. Students can pursue such an oriented course along with other regular courses i.e., H.S. or BA/BSc simultaneously. After succesful completion of the course the students will obtain certificate and diploma. Certificate Course on Cutting and Tailering:
A six months certificate course (Self Financing) on cutting and tailering has been offered by the College from the academic session 2011-2012. A good number of students from inside and outside have been trained in this course and have been fited a lot.

Spoken Tutorial Course:
An initiative of National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD Government of India, to promote IT literacy through Open Source Software has been started during the academic session 2016-17. The students of 6th Semester Major in English can avail this opportunity to take the course.

Results and progression of BA& BSc Programmes:
a)Acandidate, shall be dedared as passed a course, provided he/ she secures-
(i)At least 30% marks in each course in the end semester examination.
(ii)At least 30% marks in each course in aggregate in the in and end semester examinations.
b.A candidate shall be declared as passed a semester, provided he/she passes all the courses of a semester independently.
c.The marks of in-semester examinations obtained by the candidate shall be carried over for declaring any result.
d.A candidate who fails or does not appear in one or more courses of any end semester examinations upto sixth semester shall be provisionally promoted to the next higher semester with the failed course as carry over course(s). Such candidates will be eligible to appear in the carry over course in the next regular examinations of these courses. However, the following restrictions shall be applicable:
i.Acandidate shall be entitled to a maximum of three chances to clear a course.
ii.If a candidate clears the sixth semester examinations before clearing all the courses of the previous semesters, the result of the sixth semester examination of that candidate shall be withheld and his/her results shall be announced only after he/ she clears the courses of the previous semesters.
e.A student must pass all his/her semester examinations within five (5) years from the date of admission to the first semester of any programme.
f.Since the semester system involves continous assessment, there shall be no scope for a student to appear as a private candidate in any programme in this system.
g.A candidate shall be declared to have passed the six-semester degree B.A./B.Sc. programme provided he/she has passed all the semesters and in all the courses separately.

Assessment:
Examination and evaluation shall be done on a continous basis by the institution itself under the rules laid down by the Dibrugarh University. Examination and evaluation is done on the following system.
a.Continous Internal Evaluation (CIE).
b.Semester End Examination (SEE).
Continous Internal Evaluation (CIE) shall be conducted by the course teacher or the department concerned through the semester, which Includes Sessional Examination I & II (written); Seminar/ Group Discussion/

Home Assignment/ Tutorial alongwith Attendance in class. Semester End Examination (SEE) will be conducted at the end of the semester, on dates to be fixed by the parent university.
c.A student will not be allowed to appear for the End Semester Examination unless he/she fulfills all the following conditions.

i.He/She attends at least 80% of the lectures, practicals and tutorials in each semester.
ii. He/she has completed the continous Internal Assessment requirement securing the minimum marks required.

d.There shall be 20% marks for Internal Assessment and 80% Marks for End Semester Examination in each course during every semester.
e.There shall be no provision for 'repeat'/ 'betterment' in the sessional examination. If a students misses any sessionl examination for unavoidable reasons, the concerned techer may allow the student to appear in a separate examination at his/her own discretion.
f.The marks of intenal assessment secured by a candidate shall be carried over to next legitimate chances.
g.If a course is taught by more then one teacher then the concerned teachers shall combine to conduct the process of internal assessment.
h.If any student fails to appear in internal assessment, he/she shall not be eligible to appear in the end semester examinations of the course(s) concerned. The College shall notify the same prior to filling up forms for examinations.
i.At the end of the semester (before the end semester examinations begin) the College shall submit the internal assessment marks in proper marks sheets to the University. The University may call the answer scripts from the College at any time during the academic sessions.
